Special Needs and Adult Training

There are two training modules covering Special Needs.
Module 7, Valuing Diversity - provides a general introduction to diversity, including Special Needs, which should be sufficient for most Leaders.
This module is compulsory for all new appointments. However, if you did your training under former schemes, it is worth completing the module
as part of your on-going learning, because it does cover a number of essential issues. If you would like to take things further.
Module 36 focuses specifically on Special Needs. For more information, contact your local Training Manager, or the County Special Needs Adviser
.

Specific Support - For advice on specific issues - the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), particular conditions, or on developing Special Needs
provision - the County Special Needs Adviser may be able to help
.

There are also a number of factsheets available from the Information Centre or Scoutbase. These can be divided into two groups:
1) Factsheets providing information about many of the more common Special Needs that you are likely to encounter, helping you to integrate
    Special Needs into your Section.

2)
Factsheets providing general information about a variety of topics, such as Nights Away for Scouts with Special Needs.
