Les Salmon

Les Salmon had been ill for some time and latterly lived in a care home. During his 60 years as a leader he has been a Cub Scout Leader and Assistant District Commissioner in Chiswick and was for many years a member of the County Training Team. Latterly he was Appointments Secretary for Acton Brentford & Chiswick, successfully introducing the new National Membership Database and the transfer to Thameside Grand Union District.

Ted Rist

Ted Rist was called to Higher Service on 11th July 2012, 8 days before his 96th Birthday.  The funeral was a Requiem Mass on Thursday 26th July at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 32 Field End Road, Eastcote, Pinner HA5 2QT at 11a.m., followed by a committal at Breakspear Crematorium at 12.30 p.m.

Jim Riordan

Jim Riordan died in October 2005 following an illness lasting several months.

Ian Riches

Waxwell Rover Service Crew regrets the recent death of Ian Riches, a member of the Waxwell Rover Service Crew at Paccar Scout Camp.

His life in Scouting began in 1964 as a Cub with 7th Hillingdon continuing on to become a Scout and a Venture Scout. At the age of 15 he joined 1st Crew at Chalfont Heights, moving over to Waxwell Service Crew a few years later.

He was still an active member of Waxwell when he sadly passed away after 40 years of service to the scout campsite.

John Rapley

Scouting was a major part of John Rapley’s life from when he became a Wolf Cub in 2nd Chiswick in 1919 until the day he died. John moved to 17th Acton as a Scout and became a leader there and later an ADC and DC of the old Acton District. In 1947 he became an ACC in Middlesex - a post he held until 1955.

John Pither

John Pither died in hospital on Wednesday 20th August 2008, and his funeral service took place on Friday 29th August at the Hilton Park Woodland Burial Grounds. He had been in hospital or a nursing home for many months suffering from Parkinson's Disease and finally died from a worn out heart.

John and his uncle John Pither had been members of the 1st Hatch End Scout Group, and together started the 7th Pinner Scout Group attached to Pinner United Free Church.

Lawrence Philpott


The funeral for Lawrence, formerly GSL 17th Harrow and ADC in Harrow & Wealdstone District was held as a Requiem Mass at the Church of Our Lady and St Thomas of Canterbury, Roxborough Park, Harrow on the Hill on the 21st May 2012.

Our thoughts go out to Maureen and their three grown sons, Lance, Adrian and Anton at this difficult time. Donations were made in his memory to St Luke's Hospice.

Joan Moore

Joan Moore's funeral took place at Breakspear Crematorium on Monday 6th August 2012.

Joan was a member of 1st Hatch End Scout Group and at one time District Appointments Secretary for Pinner and Headstone District.
