Ian Riches

Waxwell Rover Service Crew regrets the recent death of Ian Riches, a member of the Waxwell Rover Service Crew at Paccar Scout Camp.

His life in Scouting began in 1964 as a Cub with 7th Hillingdon continuing on to become a Scout and a Venture Scout. At the age of 15 he joined 1st Crew at Chalfont Heights, moving over to Waxwell Service Crew a few years later.

He was still an active member of Waxwell when he sadly passed away after 40 years of service to the scout campsite.

He had been presented with a long service award in 2010 by Paccar Scout Camp. As well as his service to Paccar he was an ASL with 7th East Grinstead for a few years and was awarded the Medal of Merit in 2010.

He also gave up many weekends away with Waxwell, helping with projects for the Guides both at Foxlease Guide Centre and in Paris. He was also heavily involved with the East Grinstead Rotary Club and Rooksdown Plastic surgery Club. A Service was held at St Swithun’s Parish Church, East Grinstead on 19 Jan 2012.  He will be missed.
