We have now completed -
1. The employment of a full-time Local Development Officer (LDO)
The LDO's principal task is to assist with
the recruitment and encouragement of leaders and adult
supporters so that we can deliver Scouting to more young people.
2. The purchase the freehold of Chalfont Heights Scout
Campsite
The PACCAR Foundation Europe has donated £500,000 which has
enabled us to purchase the freehold and secure the long-term future of
the site.
This is a very generous gesture for which we are extremely grateful.
The site has been renamed PACCAR Scout Camp Chalfont Heights.
We now want to replace, upgrade and develop the buildings and facilities at
Chalfont Heights Scout Campsite
Over the years we have improved the facilities, including the
new Rowallan building (below) opened in 2003.
Now that we own the freehold we need to bring the site
up-to-date and make it an even more exciting place for young
people.
This will include -
- Replacing Gladstone/Hardun (complete
and funded)
- A new Adventure Area (complete and funded)
- Major refurbishment of the Main Services Building (funded)
- Several new activities - approx. cost £100,000 (part funded)
- Replace Walsh
- New roof on the main site building housing the office and providore
- Re-locate the woodland toilet block
- Re-build the Crew Compound (accommodation for our volunteers, workshops, storage etc)
- A roof on our swimming pool to enable its use all year
