Beaver 30th Birthday Party and Sleepover

On Saturday 16 July, 350 Beaver Scouts from all over the County met up on the sports ground at Merchant Taylors’ School in Northwood to celebrate the 30th Birthday of the Beaver Scouts.

Stuart Walton DCC, led the opening ceremony assisted by Jane Sanguy ACC Beaver Scouts and CC Terry Kingham. The ceremony included a surprise visitor, “Billy Beaver” a 6 foot furry character. The ceremony ended with the distribution of large birthday cakes. The next 30 minutes or so were strangely quiet as 350 excited Beavers demolished the cakes.

The rest of the day was spent on activities around the site. In the evening, Helen Ogilvie and a team of leaders ran a barbecue. The Beavers then spent the night camping with many of them earning their first Nights Away badge.

The Beavers had a great birthday party.

A big thank you to all the Leaders and helpers who helped make this event such a success.
