Images

Adding images is vital to keep the content on the site looking interesting and engaging, as such we have made the process as easy as possible, all it takes is 2 steps.

Step 1: Upload the image

Find the section called "File attachments" in any content type, click the "Browse" button, this will allow you to search your computer for an image. Select the image you wish to upload and click "Open", then once the window has closed click the "Attach" button.

The page will now refresh and you should have a table inside the "File attachments" section that lists the image you have just added, enter a better description if you want to, by default it takes the name of the file.

Addresses & Maps

Many content types allow you add an address and also a map to help communicate where an event location or group headquarters are located. The tools will automatically generate a map if just given an address, however to add an extra degree of accuracy you can place a marker on the map as well.

Using the Map Markers

To add a map marker double-click on the location of the map, this will add a red pin to where you clicked, you can drag it to fine tune its location. Occasionally when you double-click th map will zoom in on the incorrect location please just zoom out to find the pin again.

Content Editor

The content editor provides similiar functionality to that found in Microsoft Word or any other word processing package, what makes it different is that it automatically adds the formatted document to the website. From there others can see it and the website can use the data to create automatic newsletters and tables of information on related topics.

Editing Content

To edit a page you can either click the "Edit" tab in the title of any page, or alternatively you can find bulk edit any content you have via the "Edit content" link in the "My Navigation" sidebar menu.

Deleting Content

To delete a diary event, news story, static page or any other content type for that matter you will need to locate the "Edit" page. In the title of the content there will be an "Edit" tab, please click this.

At the bottom of any edit page there is a "Delete" button in the bottom right, please confirm that you wish to delete the content. Please note that once deleted it cannot be retrieved, so please be careful with what you delete.

Finding Content

There are a number of different ways to find content through the site, they can be grouped into two categories though, Navigation and Search.

Navigation

The site has two distinct lines of navigation; Public & Private. The public area is aimed at potential new joiners and welcomes those new to the movement. It invites them to learn more about what we do, where we are and what we have to offer. This side also allows those new prospects to submit a join request which will be handled by the Local Development Officer.
