International Jamboree 2027 – Leader Application Process

Could you be the member of the Jamboree Team we are looking for?

We are very excited to offer you the opportunity to apply for a Contingent Leader, Deputy Leader or Team Member role to lead a County Unit attending an international jamboree in the summer of 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience camping with thousands of Scouts from across the world!

We are planning to send Units to 3 different Jamboree events in 2027. You can apply for one, two or all three of them using the same application form – and we will be conducting one selection and assessment process (covering all 3 events) to create the optimum leadership team for each jamboree. The 3 jamborees available will all be in the school summer holidays in 2027 (end July/August). They are:

  1. The World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland.
  2. The Haarlem Jamborette in the Netherlands.
  3. A UK-based international Jamboree style camp

Each of the camps have different characteristics and will be the right choice for different applicants. They will all have Scouts from around the world in attendance and are likely to be one of the largest events you have attended. For each camp the leadership team need to be able to work together to create an exceptional and memorable experience for the Young People they are leading as well as themselves. The Young People will be Explorer age (14-17) at the time of the Jamboree Camp.

Additional Information about each of these camps is available here:

World Scout Jamboree : /international-events/wsj/ and here: https://www.jamboree2027.org/

Haarlem Jamborette here: https://www.haarlemjamborette.nl/

UK-based International Camp: This is one example – CamJam 2027 , however we do anticipate other options becoming available soon. The Leadership team will be able to decide which UK Jamboree to attend.

Recruitment of Young People

The leadership teams will need to spend time over summer/autumn 2025 putting together and managing a selection process to determine who will make up the Units. In addition the Teams  will need to put together their plans for the jamboree preparation camps and events, for fundraising (if managing it centrally) and, for the Haarlem and UK camps, organising logistics – travel, equipment, food etc.

Costs

In addition to support from the County, limited grants are available from various sources within and outside Scouting. For previous jamborees, participants have managed to raise the majority of the fee via grants and fundraising.
