Bruce Williams…

Bruce Williams was born at the end of 1948 and attended Cardiff School where he joined the orchestra and played rugby. He gained medals for ballroom dancing.

He qualified as a Public Health Inspector and was first employed in Islington in 1974 where he joined the Mill Hill Rugby Club. He went on later to become club secretary and bar manager. He was a determined helper, loyal and reliable. He travelled in support of his rugby team to Australia in 2012 for the World Cup, in 2013 to South Africa and in 2014 to New Zealand.

He married Janet in 1978 anad they had two sons, Andrew in 1984 and David in 1986. The boys attended the 3rd Kenton Scout Group where Janet became Beaver Scout Leader. Bruce supported Janet in her roles as Leader, Assistant District Commissioner for Beaver Scouts and later as District Commissioner for Stanmore. Bruce was a keen supporter of 3rd Kenton but tried very hard not to be over-involved.

He did go to camp and in 1993 was camp cook, helping with many of the activities. He became Group Scout Leader in 2004 and is remembered for his planning and attention to detail. He gained the Wood Badge and was given the Award for Merit in 2013. He was responsible for the Group’s move from the church to Mount Pleasant School. He leaves a strong vibrant Group which is one of the largest in the Scout County.
