In 1956 he moved into Uxbridge and District and became an Assistant Scout Master with the 1st Harefield Group. He then became in turn Scout Leader and Group Scout Leader at 1st Harefield. In 1967 he became an Activities Advisor with the County, and then Borough Commissioner for Hillingdon Borough in 1968. He became Borough Liaison Officer in 1983 for Hillingdon, the position he held until his death. In 1996 he took on the added responsibility of “Watch Warden”, for the newly opened County Conservation site at Harefield, by walking his dog every day along the Canal Towpath where he could oversee the area. Pat was also a member of the County Executive Committee, and various committees at Chalfont Heights from time to time.
He was presented with the following during his service to Scouting: 1952 Long Service Award, 1955 Medal of Merit, 1971 Silver Acorn, 1980 Bar to the Silver Acorn, 1992 Silver Wolf, 1992 Bar to the Long Service Award, 1999 Chief Scout’s 60 Year Long Service Award.
