Percy Watson…

Percy Watson, until recently District Commissioner for Stanmore, died suddenly on 18th December 1983 at the age of 64.

Percy started his Scouting in the 4th Harrow Group and later became Group Scout Leader of the 1st Harrow Weald. He became the first District Commissioner for Stanmore in 1965 and held the appointment until 1983. He was awarded the Silver Acorn in 1982.

Percy was a chartered engineer and worked at the Engineering Training Industry Board at Watford. He leaves a wife, Joan, two married sons (Mark and Colin) and four grandchildren and we offer our sympathy to his family. A one-time secretary of Holy Trinity Church, Wealdstone, Percy worked with the former Scout Group at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and continued to raise money for the children’s wards. Donations in lieu of flowers will be used to provide a seat for the patio of one of the wards there.

His wife, Joan, died on 8 April 1984.
