International Jamboree 2027 – Young Person Application Process

Are you looking for an exciting international adventure?

Will you be age 14, 15, 16 or 17 in July 2027?

Then we are very excited to offer you the opportunity to apply to join one of our international jamboree units in the summer of 2027. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience camping with thousands of Scouts from across the world!

We are planning to send Units to 3 different Jamboree events in 2027.  They will all be held in the school summer holidays in 2027 (end July/August) and are open to Scout members born between 30 July 2009 and 30 July 2013 (age 14-17 at the time of the Jamboree Camp). They are:

  1. The World Scout Jamboree in Gdansk, Poland.
  2. The Haarlem Jamborette in the Netherlands.
  3. A UK-based international Jamboree style camp

Each of the camps has different characteristics and will be the right choice for different people – whether Scouts or Explorers. They will all have Scouts from around the world in attendance and are likely to be one of the largest events you have ever attended. Previous attendees have found an international jamboree one of the most memorable and amazing experiences in their lives to date, and it brings a lasting impact – enabling young people to grow in confidence, make global friendships, and experience new cultures.

We have already selected fantastic adult leadership teams for each Unit, and are looking to put together a strong, friendly and adventurous Unit of Young People for them to lead. As well as the Jamboree itself, each Unit will hold events during 2026 and 2027 where the young people will get to know each other and work together on fund-raising.

Additional information about each of these camps can be found here:

UK-based International Camp: This is one example – CamJam 2027 , however we do anticipate other options becoming available soon. The Unit Leadership team will shortly decide which UK Jamboree to attend.

Some financial support will be available from within Scouting, but participants will also need to work on fundraising and applying for grants themselves. For previous jamborees, attendees have managed to raise the majority of the fee via grants and fundraising.

HOW TO APPLY

We recommend that you attend one of our information events ahead of completing the application form so that you have all the information needed and have an opportunity to ask any questions. Details are here :  Jamboree Information Sessions 2025

Spaces on the Jamborees are limited and in previous years we have been significantly over-subscribed, so unfortunately not everyone who applies will be successful in gaining a place at an International Jamboree. In order to determine who is best suited to attend which event we will also be holding selection days in person at Paccar Scout Campsite on 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th November – each applicant can select which day to attend within the application form. Please also indicate which jamboree experience is of interest – you can select more than one.

Although the primary approach to selecting the participants will be the Selection Days in November, we may also want to talk to someone who knows about you and what you have done in Scouts or Explorers. So please identify an adult you know from Scouts who can provide you with a reference – this may be your troop or unit leader. You will need their name and contact details for the application form – and it is polite to let them know.

Please use the application form at this link Application Form to apply by 31st October 2025 at the very latest:   Within it you can tell us all about yourself and why you are a great choice for the role. You may want to prepare this information before starting to complete the form. If you want to submit a video instead then please contact Neil Docherty (see below) and he will help you arrange this.
