As part of our ongoing plans to grow Scouting in our County, we want to be representative of the communities that we operate in – both with young people and with adults. Because of the work that we have been doing already over many years and also given the composition of the population in our county, at a recent national Scouts conference, GLMW won the “Most Inclusive county” in the UK award. But we still have a lot to do.
As part of our plans to continue this success, we are holding a Diwali Celebration Evening on 9th October 2022. This is an opportunity for us to understand more about how one of our communities celebrates an important event in its annual calendar. It is also an opportunity for us to reach out to a lot of the community groups less well represented among the membership in our County to demonstrate that we are a multi-cultural organisation and that our Skills for Life agenda can be of benefit to all young people.
We would be delighted if you would attend. Food, entertainment and fireworks are included. There is no charge to attend but you will have to pay for drinks at the bar. Please support this initiative and register your interest to attend our very first County celebration of the Festival of Light.
