A Summer Pioneering Project for Scouts

Date: 29th Mar 2018 Author: Scout Websites

To complement the Pioneering training event, I’m pleased to be able to tell you about our summer pioneering competition for the Scout section. This is to be a new annual competition in the County. If you have Scouts that are up for the challenge, then we’re asking you to encourage them to build an ambitious pioneering structure to enter the competition. It could be an imposing gate, a watch tower, a swing boat, a working ballista or anything else that you can imagine your Scouts building safely. Whatever your Scouts choose, it will need to be built by them. And where is the venue for this competition? Answer, exactly wherever you choose it to be. We’re going to take advantage of the easy availability of technology today to make everywhere you are in to the competition location. So if it’s at your HQ, on your summer camp or perhaps even at our PACCAR Scout Campsite then your Scout Troop can take part.
How to enter: Choose the structure that the Scouts will build. Video the Scouts constructing it. Edit the video in to a 5 minute news report that shows the Scouts doing the work, the quality of the great knots and lashings incorporated in to the build and the completed structure at the end. Send the video to us via Karen or upload it to our GLMW facebook page by 15th September 2018. Our expert judges will select the champion structure and the trophy will be awarded to the winning troop at the County AGM at the end of that month.
Good luck with your entry and welcome to a great new Spring of Adventure.
