Modules 5, 6, 11 & 12A: Our Organisation

Date: 12th October 2019 All Day Event Location: PACCAR Scout Camp Site (Chalfont St. Peter)

This one day course combines four modules which are mandatory for all section leaders and managers. You’ll spend the day working with other adults to understand the fundamental values of our movement and how The Scout Association has changed over time.

Module 5 (The Fundamentals of Scouting) supports the learner to consider The Fundamentals and the Religious Policy and their relationship with the programme delivered to young people. The module explores the guiding principles of Scouting; the core values which The Scout Association stands for and believes in.

Module 6 (Changes in Scouting) provides an overview of the Movement’s history focusing on its development to meet the changing needs of society. By the end of the module participants will be able to explain how Scouting started, relate the significant milestones in Scouting and outline the national and international growth of Scouting.

Module 11 (Administration) aims to provide you with information, and an opportunity to consider and learn about best practice when managing the administrative tasks required in your role. The module covers member records, data protection, finance and insurance.

Module 12A (Delivering a Quality Programme) aims to provide leaders, managers and supporters with information about how we deliver quality Scouting to young people, and how we ensure it meets their needs. The module covers the key elements of the programme for each section, the badges and awards as well as how to review the programme, the Young Leader’s Scheme and Youth shaped Scouting.
